F454-3
1940 PB-75
This is an unusual combination of parts - Style 3/75
resonator, curly maple neck, and Style 1 inlays.
This banjo was shipped to South Africa in 1941.
The most unique feature of this banjo is the "Flower Pot" inlay in the
headstock. This is the only known Gibson Mastertone to sport this
inlay, which was used mostly on the L-series guitars of the day, as well as
mandolins from the 1920's on up. This is probably an indication of the
cost-saving mode in the banjo shop at Kalamazoo leading up to WWII.
